Fake Pharmaceuticals – a BIGGER Threat to West Africa Than Heroin, Crystal Meth, Crack Cocaine and All Other Illegal Drugs Combined.

Trafficing of notorious drugs such as Heroin, Crystal Meth, Cocaine, and Crack Cocaine., no longer rank among West Africa’s Biggest Threat list. According to a Report released by the United Nations drug and crime division,  two years ago drug smuggling was at record highs.

The region was aptly dubed the “Narco-State” primarily for it’s role in the transport of coacine from Colombia to Europe. Two years later, Illegal drug trafficing has lost ground to the new menance on the block – FAKE Pharmaceuticals.

The report points the finger directly at at two culprits – illegal oil bunkering, and the now notorious Fake Pharmaceuticals (single handedly considered the greatest threat to the stability and safety of the region).

This threat has not gone unnoticed said Antonio Mazzitelli, The Regional Representative of The U.N. Body. The main reason it has’t gone unnoticed is because of this:

Mosquito filled with Malaria Rich Parasites

Mosquito filled with Malaria Rich Parasites

Mazzitelli states that West Africa Has the highest estimated rate of malaria infected in the entire continent, approximately 98 million new cases a year. The greatest Hope/threat to the survival of millions is dependant on powerful pharmaceuticals, of which more than half used to treat this gastly desease are of sub-standard quality.
This report esposed evidence that 50% of the anti – malaria tablets available in the region are “FAKE”, or contain 20% of the necessary  active ingredient. Failure to take appropriate measures will lead to devasting outcomes- untreated symtoms or even death.

Patrick Reilly of the El Monte Police Make an $8 million cocaine Bust.

Two weeks after receiving a tip about a “stash house” (a place where narcotics are held before they are sold), El Monte officers arrived at the home of Jose Portillo, 28, and Michael Castillo, 24 (the stash house tenants) in quiet Bellflower neighborhood around 7 p.m. Wednesday, placing them under arrest. The two men are Mexican nationals, now facing charges of narcotics possession, intent to sell narcotics, and narcotics transportation.

During the bust Police seized 330 pounds of cocaine with an estimated street value of $8 million, officials said.  Sgt. Patrick Reilly of California’s El Monte police department, who heads the narcotics and vice investigation team that found the drugs said, “This was a sizable seizure, it is very difficult to find this large of an amount at one location.”

The house was located in a quiet family neighborhood with four other houses, Reilly said. He also went on to say, that when asked their neighbors said  “they had no idea of the activity taking place in the house.”

The 12 Steps Opens the DOOR To the Age Old QUESTION???

Are You Truely Powerless OVER Your ADDICTION? This is the gremilin that keeps many in recovery up at night.

First, we must come to grips with what addiction is.

Second, the factors causeing addiction.

Many argue that no matter what your addiction (Narcotics, Alcohol, Weed, or even Glue) are all by-products of 3 things – Genetics, Environment, and choice.

Now I can’t say I completely understand all these factors; but I can definately relate to at least 2 of them.

For me the answer came one faithful day last week – maybe you will be able to relate. I was watching CSI: Miami (Best Show EVER!) I enjoyed that epesoide, which was perfectly fine my problem was that I continued to enjoy to episoides well into the weeee… hours of the early morning  (4:00 am) to be exact.

Now that wouldn’t be a problem, execpt for the fact that “try as I may”, I was POWERLESS to turn off the darn tube. What made it worse was that I had to wake up at 7:00am to go to work – a 9 hour shift (Not Good). The next day it was the same scenerio – then it hit me like a Larry, Curly, and Mo. Sledge hammer over the head. I had an addiction problem, I wasn’t an addiction because of the drugs, I was an addict because of my lifestyle habits - drugs was just the worse expression of that addiction.

Procrastion, endless hours watching the income reduction box(TV), my constant search for pleasure, my desire to never miss anything, to always go at fast and furious speeds, we all a symtom of my addiction. This became as evident as the sky is blue on that Saturday when my girl friend tried to change the channel from a game of GOLF…I pretty much bit her figures off to get the remote.

The funny thing is I don’t even like GOLF (Can you say addict – YEAH I sure fit that bill). If this sounds like you, I hate to be the one to break it to you but you’re an addict – by nature of your habits, not just the DRUGS.

Peace,

Thanks for letting me share.

Finally – Using the Same Science That Got You Hooked, To Get You Clean!

Scientist at the University of Buffalo are Attempting to Use RNA (RiboNucleic Acid) to Eliminate, Alcohol addiction, Narcotics addiction, and and Addition as a whole – Should Be FUN!
Please DO NOT ATTEMPT, I’m a Trained Professional -
Now before you laugh at my lame attempt to illustrate what an RNA molecule looks like, remmber at least I know how to spell it (Oh My God – in your Face!) Now, Please pay attention; this is serious – OK! Come on stop the laughing – serious business to be discussed.
According to Science News – March 25th, 2009 (You Know this is serious business when “Science” is involved) on the horizon, a “New” and “Precise” nanotechnology treament for drug addiction may soon exist. The scientist conducted experiments that have yielded positive results (I would hope so, I won’t be writing about negative results – would I? ).
According to these lab coats who apparently specialize in fields of study with names too strange to even pronounce or comprehend, their medical department has developed a stable “nanoparticle” (see I told you the names were out there…) that delivers short RNA molecules (see now we’re getting somewhere – All Hail RNA!) into the brain (mainly some kind of monkey brain first, before they perform a frankenstein on precious human Brains – Follow?)
In short,  this nano “wha-cha-ma-call-it” is suppose to turn off the gene that plays a critical role in many kinds of drug addictions, sucking out the desire to pick up.
If you have the time or patience to get cushion blisters – you can read the entire article published, in The National Academy Of Sciences: www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2009/03

Not There Yet

I’m trying. My name is Maggie and I’m three days sober. I know this isn’t a long time and I’m still scared and anxious and confused and weighed down by my demons but I’m trying. This isn’t my first attempt at sobriety either. I’ve tried to stay clean already three times but it’s hard. I guess life is hard too and I know I’m not the only one to have tried and failed before. But I’m hoping this time I can stick with it. Writing about it helps me get through those moments where you feel the dark fingers of addiction closing around your throat to the point that you feel like you can’t breathe. I’ve moved back in with my parents because I had to break ties with my old “friends” for lack of a better word. I know my life and my recovery have to be about me right now but I’m not used to thinking about myself or putting myself first.

I know there are a lot of success stories about recovery on the internet and I hope mine becomes a story of success too. I know some people would consider three days with no drugs a success but I’m hoping for that long-term success where I can write about having a loving husband, a little house and a family. I think I would even like a dog or a cat too. It’s hard, it hurts but I want to succeed. Thanks for listening. I know I’m not there yet but I’m getting there.
